Bike the U.S. for MS group volunteer in Pittsburg More then 20 cyclist have rolled into Pittsburg to lend a helping hand.
Bike the U.S. for MS organizes cross country bike trips that raise awareness for multiple sclerosis research, volunteer for patients and fundraise for the disease. On Monday in Pittsburg, the group helped two patients with MS paint their homes and do other exterior chores that they can not do themselves. Members of the group say they are glad to help those in need.
“Especially seeing how grateful family and friend and care takers are. It’s not even just helping the person that has MS, but helping all these people that help that person that has MS every single day. They’re here day in day out and we just come by and being able to help them even just for a couple hours is really nice," said Kaylyn Messenger, route leaders.
Next, the bikers will go to Chanute with their final destination being San Francisco. Their goal is to raise $1 per mile ridden per rider, which is nearly $4,000 per rider. So far the group has raised more than $71,000. If you would like to donate to the Bike the U.S. for MS, click here.
